How did I miss the last few posts in my own build thread!? Well I had to take a couple steps backward in order to take two steps forward. I originally had the intercooler mounted and only needed to mount the radiator, See here.

Well the radiator was soo massive it turned out to be impossible to mount vertical so I had to lay it down at about a 60 degree angle which meant moving the intercooler to match... so basically to fit it all in I had to cut everything from in front of the original radiator support off! Heres the mock up pics. Still need to finish welding it up and get all the tabs to hold everything.

Look Ma no frame!

WOW that's a HUGE BITCH!!

I love the dolly set up there. Easy to roll around the shop that way. How strong are those casters?? I'm guessing pretty stout since 4 of those dollys will tote around a full weight car. umm answered my own question.

You know whats funny is they weld Chromoly with MIG welders all the time in large comercial applications, if they had to weld it with a TIG they would be there forever! A miged welded Chromoly tube Vs a Tig welded Chromoly tube is just as strong its just that there is less heat pushed into the tube by the TIG welded proccess.
but TIG makes those pretty small beads!

I need to pick up a new TIG to do my suspension stuff, but I may do MIG for a while until I can buy a new TIG. I like TIG'n a lot better just for the better contol, my poor MIG goes through short burts of retarded acting while i'm doing low heat stuff like exhaust. But if you got it cranked it does great

Ya, I prefer TIG but when I was doing the cage I didnt expect to pick up a Tig welder so soon... the next cage will be CM and Tiged. The MS cage will work for now...

I don't see why everyone complains so much about MS, yea it weighs a little more but a well built mild steel cage is just as safe ya know? I'm not positive on how much my cm 10pt added, but I believe its between 65-75lbs, while a mild steel weighs what..100? I'm thinking 25lbs more weight can be offset by power or cuttin it out somewhere else. My car weighs 3145 w/ a full tank and full leather interior..i'm just rambling now lol.

BTW tig is awesome in those tight spots..they welded my cage in with the headliner in and all

Ya, nascar cages are MS so if that tells ya anything. Theres nothing wrong with a MS cage but if you can shave some weight its worth it. I think its a little more than a 25# difference. I want to say something like a 50#. I cant remember what it was exatly what it was but the benifit is that you can go with a thinner wall on the tubing with makes it alot easier to work with..
